Latest stats show digital is taking over

Uk ad spending increased by 3.7% in 2016 to £21.37 billion. Digital ad spend was hugely responsible for this increase, while traditional media ad spend declined.

Mobile ad spend increased by 45.4% according to www.eMarketer.com, with digital ad spend overall hitting over £10 billion.

National newspapers saw a 10% drop in ad spend, and magazine sales fell 6.8% for the year.

What does this prove?

Well, simply put it proves what we have known for some time, the world is converting to digital. Ofcom reported that at the end of 2016, 71% of adults in the UK used a smartphone, and 66% of adults use their mobile handset to access the internet. Ofcom also report that the average time spent per month browsing online is 30 hours and 42 minutes.

30+ hours of people’s time is a lot of time, and the perfect opportunity to place ads in front of them.
